AIX job is taking longer than expected to start

Hey community, This week, I encountered an issue with AIX agent backups. I have several AIX servers running versions 7.2 and 7.3. The backup jobs start, but there's a significant delay before they actually begin—when they start at all. When they do, the throughput is extremely low, and some jobs run for over 20 hours. Using Power Automate to Forward Veeam Community Notifications to Teams

I recently started playing around with Power Automate after a team member asked me to share the status of a daily backup job in a Teams chat. I tried to use Teams' "Get Channel Email" function, however it appears the organization has blocked that functionality. Perhaps they don't want channels filled with emails, and prefer us to use native alerting interfaces. I was left with the only option of using Power Automate, or "Workflows" in teams. I started with a simple template to forward emails to a chat, filtered it by subject line of that job's email report, and saved the workflow. This made me wonder what else Power Automate could be used for. When VMware RHEL Instant VM Migration to Nutanix AHV Fails

When performing an Instant VM Recovery from VMware backup of RHEL VM to Nutanix AHV. The RHEL VM failed to boot up. Please follow the steps to install the VirtIO drivers into the RHEL VM. Not all Linux VMs require this process, in most cases this isn't necessary.  Initiated IVMR from VMware Backup of RHEL VM to AHV.Instant VM Recovery Process2. Noticed the RHEL VM did not boot up see screen below.EFI Boot Failure ScreenI went into RHEL VM and followed the steps in this Nutanix KB article link below to add VirtIO drivers. I then rebooted the VM. I took another incremental backup. Understanding Veeam Application Aware

We know that Veeam Backup & Replication can back up virtual machines. This is one of the main functions of Veeam and it has the most features and options that we can configure. Normally, when we are starting in the backup area and taking the first steps in data protection, one of the features that ends up going unnoticed is Application Aware.So, application Aware is a function that we can configure in our backup jobs. It allows us to consistently create backup. Consistent Backup But after all, what is consistent backup?By default Veeam Backup & Replication does not perform your backups consistently. This occurs because a default configured backup job does not process a server's application logs. We must remember that Veeam backs up servers through snapshots taken in the virtualization environment. As a result, Veeam ends up not communicating directly with the operating system of each of these virtual machines. This causes Veeam to consider and perform these backups inconsistent

Veeam’s managed Hardened Repository ISO, introduced five months ago, has been incredibly successful and is evolving further with Veeam Backup & Replication V13. I actually wanted to present AsBuiltReport.Veeam.VBR in a recap article on my blog, but in the last few days I had the opportunity to use the package again in another productive infrastructure and came to the decision that a complete article must be provided here! Implementing Linux Veeam Proxies

Since we added Linux Repositories to our Veeam Backup environment in my post from last week, why not add some Linux Proxies as well? I will show you how in this post. And trust me…this one will be far less painless. But adding Repositories wasn’t so bad, was it? 😏 System RequirementsThe first thing you need to do is check what OS's, hardware, and software are supported. Supported Linux OS's are exactly the same as with Repositories and are listed below:Linux Proxy RequirementsAs far as hardware goes, your server should have a minimum 2-core CPU, plus 1 core per 2 concurrent tasks (take note, this is a peformance enhancement since v12, up from 1 core per 1 concurrent task); and minimum 2GB RAM, plus 500MB per concurrent task. But for best performance and to run multiple Jobs and tasks, you should have much more Cores and RAM than the minimum. 🔑 Enable MFA for your Veeam Account

Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) or Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is the best way to protect accounts from password theft or phishing. Therefore it’s recommended to enable such options, when they’re available. Since some time it’s possible to use MFA for Veeam Accounts, which are used to access the my.veeam.com portal or also the Veeam Community 😉Login to your Veeam account at my.veeam.com and click on edit profile in the top right corner.At the bottom of your profile details, you need to click on “Enable MFA”. As a side note, even after enabling MFA this link still states “Enable” instead of “Disable”.On the following page, you need to click on “Set up authenticator application” and follow the instructions. While FreeOTP or Google Authenticator are recommended, you can use any other OTP app; for example I’m using Aegis. Afterwards it’s recommended to create recovery authentication codes, for the case that your MFA app isn't available. I was installing the VBR Console on my PC, and when connecting to the backup server, there was a version mismatch that the Veeam User Guide (HelpCenter) spelt out correctly. Here is the guide on how to “Install Veeam Backup Console on a Jump Server for Secure Access”, discussing all the prerequisites, installation steps, limitations and workaround.I searched through the community but could not find any post discussing the upgrade process for the latest version of VBR. Sequence contains more than one element - Always ON

Hello everyone! I have a SQL environment where the error below started appearing after migrating between repositories: With this error it won't let me:Delete the jobs; Enable the job; Finalize the job configuration summary;Nothing about that specific job has worked again!! Background: Previously we needed to move the backup file and then map them to their target repository.Today we have the “Move backup” option: After clicking move, it tells me that it needs to move all the cluster backups:In addition to enabling Move via console, we can also choose which Job it will be linked to:That's awesome!Now let's get back to troubleshooting! I executed the sequence below to solve the problem:Clone the current job; Move the backups to the repository and cloned job; Run full backup; Continue transaction log;After that my job is working perfectly! Remembering that I am using Windows Agents within a protection group as good practices for Always ON protection

Comparing Motorcycle Safety to Data Protection Preparedness

The weather in Ontario has just started to consistently stay above freezing temperatures, even some days spiking up to 18 degrees (64F for my American counterparts). This has me thinking about one thing only; getting back on my motorcycle as soon as possible and enjoying the open road. However, as a new rider as of last year, I have prioritized safety and learning from others experiences. I do this by watching a Youtube Channel called "DanDanTheFireman". On this channel, Dan promotes motorcycle safety by reviewing footage of motorcycle incidents and providing after-action analysis of what went wrong, and would go have been done better. One of the methods/concepts that Dan teaches is called "MTC (Motorcycle Training Concepts) Awareness Stages". Steps to resolve "Repository time shift detected: Immutability flag cannot be set"

This warning occurs when a time shift is detected in the Hardened Repository regardless of the deployment type used. In this article, the focus is on “VHR ISO”. This is a safeguard against immutability manipulation that can also be triggered by intentional time changes etc. But in my case, it was as a result of extended shutdown.As you can see below, the backup job completed with warning(s).Did a little troubleshooting and found the root cause. Please, see the error message for more information ‘A problem occurred during setting the immutable flag: repository time shift detected, immutability flag cannot be set. Please refer to KB4482 for more details.”If you are using the Veeam Hardened Repository ISO, this solution is very easy to implement.
